Submittal statuses live in three places at once: a Procore log nobody updates daily, a shared spreadsheet revised twice a week, and a PM's inbox. Status changes require manual entry across each system. When a submittal deadline slips, nobody catches it until the subcontractor confirms they never placed the order, and materials with 42–60 week lead times do not wait for weekly log reviews.
A poorly maintained submittal log causes schedule delays, but it also creates legal and contractual liability that makes those delays even more damaging. You lose your right to claim time extensions or additional compensation if you can't prove you followed the approved submittal schedule.
